John Alfred Thompson, born in 1980, is a Bahamian artist whose unique upbringing on an aquaculture facility, guided by parents with marine science backgrounds, instilled in him a deep appreciation for the natural history of the Caribbean and beyond.

From an early age, John was captivated by the natural world, drawing inspiration from the radiant hues of the Bahamas. Whether creating botanical illustrations or painting on canvas, his work aims to share the awe and beauty he finds in nature, making it accessible to a broader audience.

His creative work includes environmental educational materials, landscapes, and scientific illustrations. Additionally, he writes and illustrates books exploring the ecology of the Bahamas.

John shares his life with his husband, Ashley, and together, they divide their time between New York City and the Bahamas—accompanied by too many houseplants.
